About the Trail
The Zingela Trail Run takes place on the banks of the Tugela River amidst stunning valley thornveld. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the winding game paths which make for perfect trails, offering breathtaking views at every turn. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or seeking to embrace the thrill of off-road running for the first time, this event is designed for all levels, set against the backdrop of stunning landscapes that will leave you breathless in more ways than one. You’ll run above towering cliffs, and alongside the tranquil riverbanks, with every step immersing you deeper into the wilderness. Held at the most beautiful time of year to experience the African bush, you can expect warm, blue sky days and crisp, chilly evenings and early mornings. The area is teeming with game, including giraffe, nyala, kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, warthog and ostrich. The terrain is varied, but is predominantly undulating, rocky game paths, dotted with tall standing aloes and acacia’s.
On both day 1 and day 2, we have introduced shorter route options for those who feel that the full distances are too far.
The HIPPO RUN for Kids - 4km
Start time - 8:00am
This fun route has been introduced for those who are wanting a taste of trail running or for kids whose parents are running on Saturday morning. Children of all ages from 5 upwards can participate in this fun event and will get to run around the prominent 'koppie', best known as the Hippo. A refreshment table along the route will be provided and your kiddies will be well supervised.
The cost of the Hippo Run is R150 and includes a FREE T-shirt! This event can be paid for upon arrival, but should be booked by no later than the 20th April 2025.
